Sisterlocks™ are small, uniform locks installed using a special tool, parting, and pattern system. When properly maintained, the result is a neat, manicured, and easily styled mane of locked hair. Locks4Life® specializes in Sisterlocks™ but also does other locking methods based on location.
Sisterlocks™ are uniform locks that allow you to style and manage your hair without relaxers, gels, or waxes like those used in traditional hair locking methods. Sisterlocks™ can be styled, curled, wet set, braided, Bantu knotted or styled in a ponytail. Practically any style that you can do with straightened hair can be done with Sisterlocks™—without the damage and breakage. It is a gentle technique that does not damage your hair.
Anyone with a curly/wavy/kinky hair texture can get Sisterlocks™. They can be installed on women, men, and children.
Sisterlocks™ can be started with approximately 2 inches of natural unprocessed hair. Where shorter hair can be caught in a locking pattern, 1 1/2 inches will ensure the first stages of locking will be easier to manage during your home care. Having a consultation will give you a definite answer.
No—that is one of the beautiful things about Sisterlocks™! Sisterlocks™ allow you to transition from relaxed hair to natural locks in a gentle way. As long as you have 2 inches of natural hair near the roots, you can begin your journey. As your hair grows and your locks settle in, the relaxed ends can be trimmed away a little at a time.
Essentially, Yes. While it is technically possible to remove Sisterlocks™ during the first 6 months before the hair truly “Locks,” this process is arduous. Take all the time you need to make sure of your decision to lock your hair.
Our mission is to make sure our clients love their hair, and the Sisterlocks™ lifestyle—if you're not yet ready, we’ll be here when you are. If you have any doubts or feel that you might want to remove your Sisterlocks™, we encourage you to delay locking at this time.
The sky’s the limit! Sisterlocks™ are so versatile–almost any style you could wear with straight/pressed/processed hair can be created with your Sisterlocks™.
